Many seasons in the making | The MARIS collection

Many seasons in the making | The MARIS collection

The MARIS collection is eighteen one-of-a-kind rings, handmade by Filippa in her studio on the Central Coast of New South Wales, in recycled solid gold and 925 sterling silver, each set with a natural gemstone. Every piece took shape over more than a year, inspired by the coastline surrounding the studio: sun-bleached dunes, shifting tide pools, the last gold light before dusk. Because every gemstone is natural and every ring is made from scratch by hand, no two pieces in the MARIS collection will ever be exactly the same, and once one sells, it's gone. Here's what's inside the collection, the story behind it, and where to see the full range.

What Is the MARIS Collection?

MARIS is Neij Jewellery's newest ring collection: 18 handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces split across solid 9K gold and 925 sterling silver. Each ring holds a single hero gemstone, or in a few cases a small cluster, chosen for its natural colour and character rather than uniformity. Unlike a mass-produced range where every piece is recreated, each MARIS ring is genuinely singular, so the one you choose is the only one that will ever exist.

Where Are MARIS Rings Made?

Every ring in the MARIS collection is handcrafted from scratch in Filippa's home studio on the Central Coast, a few hundred metres from the beach. Nothing in the collection is 3D printed or factory produced. Each piece moves through Filippa's hands from raw metal and stone to finished ring, which is part of why production takes time and why quantities are genuinely limited.

The Story Behind the MARIS Name

The collection is named for its centre piece, Maris, a ring set with a trillion cut parti sapphire that shifts from green to yellow depending on the light. Filippa started collecting notes and sketches for the collection over a year ago, drawn from the coastline around her studio: dunes, tide lines, the hour before dusk. Several of the names carry that same thread, Thalassa for the Greek goddess of the sea, Freja for the Norse goddess, Vesta for the goddess of hearth and flame, Dune, Cove, Shoal, Lagoon, and Tideline for the landscape itself. Every name was chosen to match the specific mood of its stone rather than picked from a list, which is part of why the collection reads as one continuous story rather than 18 unrelated pieces.

When Can You Shop the MARIS Collection?

The MARIS collection is available now at neijjewellery.com/collections/maris. Because every ring is one of a kind and made from scratch, once a piece sells it will not be remade in the same form.
